WHEN
& WHERE

Our
community is celebrating Lights On Afterschool!
Oct 17-20th at individual Afterschool Program
locations.
-
There
will be a culminating celebration on Friday, October 21st
at
7:00pm
at the Travis County Expo center.
WHY
-
Lights
On Afterschool!
is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and
their important role in the lives of children, families and
communities.
-
The
event calls attention to afterschool programs and the resources
required to keep the lights on and the doors open.
-
Lights
On Afterschool!
was launched in October 2000 with celebrations in more than 1,200
communities nationwide.
-
It
has grown to more than 5000 participating communities since then.
The
Central
Texas
area is proud to be one of them!!!
WHAT
-
The
Austin Ice Bats is sponsoring LOAS this year.
Their opening game (Friday October 21st,
7:30pm
)
will be dedicated to Afterschool.
-
Special
VIPs will “drop the Puck” and some Afterschool students will be
able to join him. Other
Afterschool students will play a game on the ice or ride the zamboni
during intermission.
-
The
week preceding the Ice Bat game (October 17th-20th)
will be Hockey Week at participating locations, complete with visits
from hockey players and Fang, the Ice Bats mascot.
WHO
Everyone
who cares about Afterschool!!!!!! Students,
teachers, parents, brothers, sisters, etc…
FREE
TICKETS AVAILABLE TO AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS, FAMILY AND
FRIENDS!!
